This double flowering clematis has dusty purple to red blooms all season! Unlike other clematis it’s flowers are not large, they are only 2-3″ in diameter, however they are plentiful and often the entire vine will be covered in these double purple blossoms. Clematis do well when trained to grow up a trellis, chain link fence, and this one can be used as a ground cover if not attached to a support structure. This clematis is most often referred to by it’s scientific name Clematis viticella ‘Purpurea Plena Elegans’ however to make pronunciation it easier we have named it Double Purple Clematis.
Pruning Group C. This variety grows only on new wood. Prune to 2-3” above the ground in late Winter/early Spring.
